DALI's Kore is the Danish maker's flagship: a five-driver, hand-built floorstander developed over the better part of a decade to mark the company's 40th anniversary. Hear it the way it was meant to be heard.
Some loudspeakers are designed to fit a price point. The Kore was designed to fit a vision: build the most musically uncompromised floorstander DALI is capable of, regardless of cost or complexity. The result, after years of development by founder Kim Kristiansen and his team in Nørager, Denmark, is the most ambitious speaker the company has ever shipped.
Every part of the Kore is purpose-built. Twin 11.5-inch bass drivers operate in differential drive, paired with a dedicated 7-inch midrange. The hybrid tweeter combines a 35mm soft dome with a 55mm planar ribbon to handle the high frequencies in tandem, each in the range it does best. A 160 kg cast resin composite plinth keeps the cabinet inert. The crossover uses the world's first inductors built from DALI's patented SMC material.
The Kore is not a speaker you buy on a spec sheet. It's a speaker you buy after spending an afternoon listening to your own music in a properly tuned room, then realizing you're not paying attention to the speakers anymore.
That afternoon happens here. In our listening room in Palatine. Bring your music. Take your time.
Four engineering choices that separate it from everything else DALI builds.
Brand-new patented topology for the woofers and midrange. Dual voice-coil differential drive paired with DALI's Soft Magnetic Compound technology produces a perfectly linear, symmetrical motor system. The audible result: dramatically lower distortion and significantly higher dynamic capability across the full bandwidth.
A 35mm soft dome and a 55mm × 10mm planar ribbon working together. Each tweeter handles the part of the high frequency range it reproduces best, free of the resonances and Q peaks that plague single-element designs. The result is a top end with exceptional dispersion and a notable absence of fatigue.
Each Kore cabinet is constructed and finished by hand in DALI's Nørager facility. A 160 kg total weight, anchored on a precision-cast resin composite plinth, gives the cabinet a vault-like inertness. Available in finishes including Ammara Ebony, High Gloss Black, Maroon, Walnut, Navy Blue, and Racing Green.
The Kore's crossover network is the first in the world to use inductors made from DALI's low-loss SMC material. The result is dramatically reduced electrical losses and a notable improvement in clarity through the crossover region, where most loudspeakers compromise the most.
"The Kore doesn't sound like a speaker. It sounds like the room got out of the way and the recording showed up." From the Simply Stereo listening room
